OUR METHOD
BEAUTY BEGINS
WITH OBSERVING
THE SKIN.
The Japanese Botanical Facial Method is a professional facial approach developed around botanical skincare, plant oils, botanical extracts, hydrosols, clays and other carefully selected plant-based materials.
Rather than performing exactly the same treatment for every client, we begin by observing the condition of the skin and selecting the products and textures that best suit the individual.
This page introduces the basic treatment flow for professional salons.
“Every skin is different.
Every treatment can be different.”
THREE PRINCIPLES
THE FOUNDATION OF
JAPANESE BOTANICAL BEAUTY
OBSERVE
Begin with the skin in front of you. Consider moisture, oil balance, sensitivity, texture and the client's current routine.
SELECT
Choose botanical skincare, oils and treatment products according to the condition of the skin rather than following one fixed recipe.
LAYER
Build the treatment gradually through cleansing, hydration, botanical oils and finishing skincare.
PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT GUIDE
8 STEPS OF THE
JAPANESE BOTANICAL FACIAL
Use this guide as an introduction to the basic treatment sequence. Product selection and application can be adjusted according to each client's skin condition.

CONSULT
Understand the skin before you touch it.
Begin with a short consultation. Observe the client's current skin condition and ask about dryness, oiliness, sensitivity, lifestyle and their usual skincare routine.
The purpose is not to categorise every client into one fixed skin type, but to understand what the skin appears to need on the day of treatment.

CLEANSE
Gentle Botanical Cleansing
Begin by gently removing makeup, excess sebum and surface impurities using botanical cleansing products.
Depending on the client's makeup and skin condition, select an oil-based cleanser or a gentle cleansing milk. Work slowly and avoid excessive friction.

PURIFY
Clay & Botanical Treatment
Apply a botanical clay treatment selected according to the skin condition.
Clay can be used as part of the cleansing stage to help remove excess surface oil and impurities while preparing the skin for the steps that follow.

EXFOLIATE
Gentle Botanical Exfoliation
Refine the surface of the skin with a gentle botanical exfoliating treatment when appropriate.
The purpose is not aggressive exfoliation. Use minimal pressure and adjust the treatment according to sensitivity and skin condition.

HYDRATE
Layer Botanical Hydration
Apply botanical hydrosols or facial lotions gradually in several light layers.
Rather than applying a large amount at once, allow each layer to settle comfortably before applying the next.

MASSAGE
Botanical Oil Treatment
Select a botanical massage oil according to the skin condition and desired treatment experience.
Cold-pressed plant oils and botanical infused oils can be used to create a slow and considered facial and décolletage massage.
Use enough product to maintain comfortable glide and avoid unnecessary friction on the skin.

TREAT
Botanical Treatment & Intensive Care
Follow the massage with an appropriate botanical mask or intensive skincare treatment.
This stage helps complete the treatment by layering moisture and emollient care according to the client's skin condition.

FINISH
Complete the Botanical Skincare Ritual
Complete the treatment with skincare selected according to the skin condition.
A typical finishing sequence may include facial lotion, serum, botanical oil and moisturising cream, followed by the appropriate daytime finishing products.
A lightweight face powder may also be used when suitable to leave the complexion looking naturally refined.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
NOT A FIXED RECIPE.
EVERY SKIN IS DIFFERENT.
SO EVERY TREATMENT
CAN BE DIFFERENT.
The Japanese Botanical Facial Method is not about performing exactly the same treatment on every client.
Skin condition, season, environment and daily skincare can all influence how a professional selects and layers botanical products.
Learning to observe the skin and make thoughtful product choices is an essential part of this method.
